Frequently asked questions

Starting with what trips people up most before they pay.

What is an eSIM?
It's a line you install by scanning a QR code instead of inserting a chip. Your current SIM stays where it is and you just add a data line on top, so your home number stays active. Whether calls and verification texts to it reach you abroad, and what they cost, depends on your home carrier's roaming.
Will it work on my phone?
Most iPhones from the XS on work, as do most Galaxy S-series phones from the S20 on and the Z Fold4 / Flip4 and later. For the S20–S22 it depends on the country and carrier the phone was sold through, and the same model can differ by country, so the device check page is more accurate. iPhones sold in mainland China have no eSIM, except the models Apple lists as eSIM-capable there (as of September 2026: iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone 17e and iPhone Air). Some iPhone models sold in Hong Kong and Macao take two nano-SIM cards instead of an eSIM.
When should I install it?
Install it before you leave, somewhere with Wi-Fi. After you land you may have no connection to install with, and then you're stuck. Install ahead of time and switch it on once you arrive.
Do I get a phone number?
No. It's data only, so there's no phone number and no SMS. For calls, use data calling apps like WhatsApp or KakaoTalk. Your home number stays on your existing SIM; whether its calls reach you abroad depends on your home carrier's roaming.
How soon do I get it after paying?
Right after payment, we email a link to your QR code and install steps to the address you entered, usually within a few minutes. The QR code also appears on your order page (the page you see after paying). If the email doesn't arrive, check your spam folder first, and if it's still missing, contact support.
What payment methods can I use?
Checkout is through PayPal, and you're charged in US dollars. In the PayPal window you can pay with your PayPal account, or by debit or credit card with the 'Debit or Credit Card' button; where PayPal offers that option, you don't need a PayPal account. The amount is verified again on our server, and once it checks out the eSIM is issued automatically.
Can I get a refund?
Until you install the eSIM, you get a full refund: if the QR code has been issued but not scanned, email us your order number and we check with the supplier that it hasn't been installed. Once it's installed on a phone, it can't be refunded, even if it hasn't connected yet, because the network can't take an installed eSIM back. So install it once your travel dates are firm (still before you fly, on Wi-Fi).
How many days should I buy?
Daily refill plans are counted in days and keep you connected at low speed once that day's allowance is used; Total data plans end when the data runs out within the validity period. Map navigation uses little data while social media and video use a lot, so check how much you need with the data calculator first, then compare it with the price per day on each country page.
